What an exciting year we have had here at Frank Smith Daylilies! After starting off the season with several hundred visitors in the garden, I managed to spend a lot of time in the greenhouse making seeds for our next generation of hybrids. I know it’s a lot like wishing our lives away, but I really can’t wait to see some of these seedlings flower next Spring.
The Fall 2007 introductions and the Spring 2008 introductions are some of the most beautiful and distinctively colored flowers I have offered. The extremely large ruffled edges and the bold, blunt sepals that we are finally achieving are characteristic in many of this offering.
This year, we had so many wonderful friends stay several days in Central Florida. I was able to get photos of many of them, which I will include throughout this Spring’s catalog. I hope you will recognize some of the faces and that you all will join us again on May 10, 2008 for our fourth annual Central Florida Daylily Celebration.
